Hoffman’s Races of Mankind exhibit was realized as a series of bronzes of racial types from around the world, a unique visual mediation between anthropological expertise and everyday ideas about race in interwar America. The works were initially housed in Hall 3, the Chauncey Keep Memorial Hall ("The Hall of the Races of Mankind"). Hoffman wrote about her travels around the world to draw and model the various different types of people in her book, Heads and Tales.
